Painted Face

My beloved friend Allie played her first show as Painted Face last Sunday night at Bruar Falls in Willamsburg (don't worry I only go there three times a year), as part of an event for Tom Tom Magazine. She and her brother/doppleganger Marcio have made amazing music, of course I am bias because I adore her, but even the girls next to me were raving about her (I had to refrain from saying, actually she's a close personal friend of mine). I'm going to visit her in DC next week, at which time I will make her play songs only for me!

I made this video with my camera (the first time I ever used the video function on my camera), so it does not represent the full beauty of the evening, but alas it was beautiful.

I think that we all fought in a war, you are not special if you are Israeli or anything like that, of course if you have actually been forced to kill someone you deserve extra consideration. Sometimes for various reasons you revisit your war, when people see you doing this they react in different ways, people you have known for a long time can seem so rotten, and strangers can be so kind. You can see a lot about yourself and the people around you in these moments, it's heart breaking, but humanity always redeems itself - because you know you can never give up.
